with Opera Theatre Company

Ireland’s national touring opera company brings you “Opera as heard in the Movies”

You know the feeling. You’re watching a movie and suddenly the soundtrack melts your mind but you can never remember the song!

Here’s your chance to relive that mind-bending experience at this year’s Electric Picnic. Just close your eyes sit back and wait for Opera Theatre Company’s singers to transport you to the cinema watching the Godfather, where the stark brutality unfolds to Puccini’s sublime Brindisi. Or relive the moment in Shawshank Redemption where Tom Robbins treats his fellow prisoners to Mozart’s divine duet “Sull’aria”. Or recall a half-naked Nicholas Cage dancing around singing “La donna é mobile,” in The Family Man!

And that’s not all, renowned Irish singers soprano Mary O’Sullivan, mezzo-soprano Anne Marie Gibbons, baritone John Molloy, tenor Aaron Cawley along with musical director Andrew Synnott will bring you superb renditions of other classic opera arias and ensembles made famous through movies like True Romance, Wall Street, Life is Beautiful, Sunday Bloody Sunday and A Room with a View.
